There’s a lot of ass in these Assassin’s Creed Remasters…
Assassin’s Creed III Remastered recently released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The remaster includes updated graphics with more polish and everything else that one would expect. But it appears that the Switch version is not actually a remaster, it is a port. In a video, Digital Foundry compares the game on Switch compared to a version running on a base PS4, and it shows a major difference in quality. The resolution, graphics, lighting, and more are rough in comparison which to a degree is expected with the Switch being a console-handheld hybrid.
What is really surprising regarding the Switch version is that it is just an enhanced port of the Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed III. While there are definite improvements in the Switch version compared to the Wii U version (mainly in resolution) all the bugs that were in the original are there and there were no updates in textures. While the few enhancements may technically qualify Assassin’s Creed III for Nintendo Switch as a remaster, it did not get the same treatment that the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game got. Included in Assassin’s Creed III Remastered is Assassin’s Creed Liberation Remastered which in short has most of the same issues with its upgrade as Assassin’s Creed III.
